Being a bridesmaid might seem easy, but there’s more to it than you think. You have to buy and get fitted for an expensive dress, cater to your best friend’s every whim, and help ensure that everything goes smoothly on her special day.
Of course, it’s impossible to be sure that everything always goes as planned. That’s what one bridesmaid found out when she saw something terrible happening on her sister’s big day.
But before things took a turn for the worse, she didn’t hesitate to jump in and help…
In modern culture, it’s assumed that being a bridesmaid in a friend or sibling’s wedding is not only an honor, but that it’s an exciting job. After all, it’s an opportunity to watch someone close to you be married. Besides, you’ll look beautiful in the process!
Well, it turns out there’s often more to the gig than most people let on. For instance, you have to cater to the bride’s needs, no matter what. That’s a lot of pressure to ensure that her biggest day is running as smoothly as possible.
And as many people can attest, things have a way of going off the rails on those important days. Just take what happened during Hannah West and Mark Jefferies’ recent wedding, for instance. It just goes to show that things can change in the blink of an eye…
Hannah and Mark were getting married at the beautiful Dumbleton Hall in Stroud, England. They’d always dreamed of being married there, and they were super excited to finally tie the knot in front of all their friends and family!
Everything was going according to plan as the wedding party posed for photos. That was until they suddenly heard a terrible, unexpected sound coming from nearby. Not wanting their magical day to be ruined, they cautiously looked to see what was wrong…
It turned out that, while they were taking their wedding photographs, a black swan had apparently separated a baby gosling from its parents, and it was trying to drown the poor little bird. Its shrieks for help were incredibly loud.
Without hesitation, the bride’s sister, Faye, who clearly relished her role as a bridesmaid, kicked off her shoes and waded into the pond to scare away the swan. She just couldn’t bear to let the gosling be hurt—and getting a little wet wasn’t going to stop her.
Everyone cheered as Faye brought the gosling back to its family, even though her lovely dress had become soaked in the process. The other bridesmaids tried their best to dry it off. Nevertheless, she didn’t seem to mind at all. She was just worried about her sister.
Thankfully, the geese thanked Faye by honking with appreciation, and the rest of the wedding went off without a hitch. Had she chosen not to jump in the water that day, there’s a good chance that the ceremony could’ve been ruined.
“Our wedding was everything we wanted and more,” said Hannah. “Faye saving the gosling was just the cherry on top of our day, and [it’s] something we will look back on and laugh for years to come.” What a way to start your life together!
What an unbelievable deed to do for your sister—and a family of geese. She really took the whole bridesmaid responsibility to heart!
