During an expedition that took him traipsing along the steep Himalayan cliffs in Bhutan, filmmaker and animal activist Tim Gorski suddenly became sidetracked. He’d intended to head straight to the famed Taktsang Palphug Monastery (also known as The Tiger’s Nest), but when a certain stray dog crossed his path, he knew had to take a rain check.
The dog was clearly sick, and had lost most of its hair due to mange. Tim knew he had to do something, and fast.
While scaling the cliffs of Bhutan en route to the Taksang Palphug Monastery, filmmaker Tim Goski spotted a stray dog with a severe case of mange and in need of help. Clearly he had to act quickly to save the animal.
Tim immediately contacted rescue center Bhutan Animal Rescue and Care.
The rescue center then reached out to a non-profit, no-kill shelter called The Maya Foundation to alert them that they had a dog who was “in need of some TLC.” They arranged for the dog, whom they named Tim in honor of his rescuer, to be sent to there. That’s when things really started to turn around!
Just weeks later, Tim looked like an entirely different pooch! His hair had grown back and he was playful and loving.
When Tim Gorski saw how far his namesake had come, he took to Facebook to express his happiness. “I urge everyone to not simply walk by when you see an animal suffering. Take the time. Connect with the animal. Make the call if need be. But do something. Don’t just walk by feeling sorry or helpless because you are not. But the animals often are.”
Tim really does look like a completely different dog. It just goes to show you what can be accomplished when people are willing and able to help those in need.
