Meet Some The Strangest Individuals Who Have Ever Existed

There's no denying it: many of us have our own odd quirks that reveal themselves once we're alone. Maybe you talk to yourself in strange voices? Or maybe you eat foods that really shouldn't go together? Whatever you do, just be thankful it's not as bizarre as what these people are famous for! If there was an award for weirdness, these guys would win hands down.

1. Anneliese Michel

At age 16, Michel began experiencing blackouts at her school in West Germany. Then, after being diagnosed with and receiving medicine for temporal lobe epilepsy, she started telling her parents she could see and hear the devil and that her body was slowly becoming possessed by demons. The medicine she’d been prescribed clearly wasn't helping, and things were about to get a lot worse for Michel and her family.

Exorcisms

Eventually, a priest named Ernst Alt offered to help the young girl. Over the next 10 months, he performed 67 exorcisms. But Michel's body slowly deteriorated over the months, and she ultimately died from malnutrition and dehydration. Apart from her initial diagnosis, there was never an explanation offered for the apparent possession.

2. Margaret Howe Lovatt

During a special NASA-funded experiment where scientists tried to bridge the communication gap between dolphins and humans, a dolphin named Peter became obsessed with Lovatt, and Lovatt herself claimed they had a "sensuous relationship." The trouble was, you see, that during their communication sessions, Peter the dolphin would have certain, ahem, urges...

Letting it happen

At first, when Peter became a bit frisky, the team would send him to be with the female dolphins. But these disruptions had a big impact on the work Margaret was doing with him, so in time, he was allowed to stay with her in the tank. "It seemed to me that it made the bond closer," Margaret told the BBC in 2014. "Not because of the sexual activity, but because of the lack of having to keep breaking."
