20+ Times Celebrities Totally Lost Their Cool While Being Interviewed

For the most part, celebrities are just as "on" in interviews as they are in film or on stage. But sometimes an interview goes off the rails in a deliciously unpredictable way that leaves everybody speechless. From Barbara Walters knocking the Kardashians with a scathing burn to Gene Simmons' relationship fiasco on-air with Joy Behar, these cringey incidents will have you wondering: how did these celebrity interviews get off track so fast?

Gosling And Ford Crack Up

Alison Hammond is known for her joyful interviewing style, which was on full display in her interview with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. They were supposed to promote their film Blade Runner 2049, but that never happened. Instead, Hammond started laughing, and soon enough, everyone joined in. Then, they downed glasses of whiskey, and eventually, Gosling walked away to help a gaffer.

Late Night Smackdown

Back in 1999, Jay Leno apparently didn't sense tension was boiling. Guests Marc Summers and Burt Reynolds were cordial enough at the start. Then Summers joked about Reynolds' recent divorce. Reynolds responded by spilling a glass of water over Summers. Then pies were slammed into each other's faces.

Banana Boat Snooze

One memorable interview with Harry "King of Calypso" Belafonte didn't go as planned. During a news segment, a reporter cut to Belafonte, only to find out he'd fallen asleep while waiting for his segment to begin! After a few attempts to wake him failed, the news anchor — while laughing — nixed his segment.

Charlie Sheen's PR Disaster

In perhaps the most memorable moment of interviewing history, Charlie Sheen's 2011 appearance on Good Morning America was one wild tangent after another. He proclaimed he had tiger blood inside him, which helped him survive his crazy lifestyle. Painting a vivid picture, Sheen explained, "The run I was on made Sinatra, Flynn, Jagger, Richards, all of them look like droopy-eyed armless children."
