One Of The Biggest Producers In Show Biz Has Been Hiding Some Awful Scandals

Even though Hollywood monsters and predators like Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, and Mario Batali have been taken down over recent years, plenty of terrible people still work in show business. One of the remaining villains is producer Scott Rudin. Across a four-decade career, Scott has abused hundreds of employees — especially his personal assistants. Now, those mistreated former employees are breaking their silence.

Hundreds of Victims

Scott estimates that he’s gone through more than 100 assistants, all under the age of 25 — in just the past five years. Some of the things Scott did to his employees border on unbelievable: when Scott’s temper flared, he treated the people around him with complete disdain.

A Computer Attack

One Halloween afternoon, Scott went insane when his assistant couldn’t book him a flight. The plane was completely sold out. In his anger, Scott grabbed an Apple computer and slammed it down, shattering the screen on his assistant’s hand. The employee was rushed to the emergency room.

Shocked by the Boss

Other employees, who witnessed the incident, hid together in a conference room. They couldn’t believe what they’d witnessed. “We were all shocked because we didn’t know that that sort of thing could happen in that office,” manager and producer Andrew Coles said — although he clarified that Scott's outbursts were common. “We knew a lot could happen.”

Intense Environment

“There were the guys that were sleeping in the office, the guys whose hair was falling out and were developing ulcers,” Andrew said. “It was a very intense environment, but that just felt different. It was a new level of unhinged — a level of lack of control that I had never seen before in a workplace.”
