If Your Pet Is Choking And No One Is There To Help, This Simple Trick Could Save Their Life.

Being a pet owner is like caring for a child. You feed them, bathe them, and give them endless love, and you feel helpless when they're hurt or in pain. In those scary situations, it helps to be prepared so that you know exactly what to do to save your pet's life.

When your cat or dog is choking, for example, there are lifesaving techniques you can perform at home when every minute counts. Most people have heard of the Heimlich maneuver, which assists people who are choking. But some pet owners may not be aware that the procedure works on animals, too! So if your cat or dog starts choking on a foreign object, here's what to do.

For a cat (or a small dog), the first step is to check her mouth for any kind of obstruction. If you can see the object, try to remove it with a sweep of your fingers.
If you're unable to easily remove the object with your fingers, lift your cat and suspend her with her head pointed down.
Grab your cat around the waist facing away from you, then clasp your hands into a fist just below her ribs.
Push your fist quickly upward five times on the cat's abdomen, then check the mouth again. Continue this pattern until the object becomes dislodged and you can remove it with your fingers.
